GFRP Reinforced Bars
GFRP Corrosion Resistant Reinforcement
GFRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer) is becoming more frequently used nowadays for particular application use case scenarios such as retaining wall projects closer to coastlines.
At Sunset Sleepers, we have adapted our engineering to cater for GFRP so that all of our concrete sleepers can be manufactured with the standard N12 Reo Bars or the equivalent GFRP replacement.
GFRP creates lower carbon emission and will never rust, hence why it’s predominately used in near coastline retaining wall applications.
GFRP isn’t steel, so the other benefit is that it doesn’t create any magnetic field which is critical if you’re building a reinforced retaining wall near power plant stations.
Plus concrete sleepers with GFRP are much easier to cut if you need to for your retaining wall project.
You will see some of our GFRP concrete sleepers on government projects such as the Koo Wee Cup bypass that connects to Pakenham with more than 1,000 of our concrete sleepers installed beside the new roads.
We’ve also worked with local councils from the Mornington Peninsula who have specially requested GFRP concrete sleepers to be installed along the coastal pathways to replace the aging timber sleepers which are rotting away.
If you require concrete sleepers that have a high strength-to-weight ratio and are corrosion resistance, then we can happily accomodate your request with GFRP concrete sleepers. Simply call us or send us a message and let out team know about your request.
